The scholarship covers a wide range of study fields and over 700 of 1000 English-taught master’s programmes in Sweden.

 

This scholarship, the Swedish Institute (SI) aim to develop a network of global leaders committed to advancing Sustainable Development Goals and drive the development of their home countries forward especially for developing countries.   

The scholarship is open for applications once every year, for master’s studies beginning in the autumn semester.

Criterias

  • Be a citizen of one of the 33 eligible countries for the SI Scholarship for Global Professionals;
  • Apply for a master’s programme that is eligible for the SI scholarship;  
  • Be liable to pay tuition fees at University Admissions;  
  • Have demonstrated work experience; 
  • Have demonstrated leadership experience from current or previous employer, or from civil society engagement.  

 

Key dates:

  • 15 October 2024 – 15 January 2025: Apply to Swedish master’s programmes through University Admissions before the deadline in January. 
  • 1 November 2024: SI Scholarship application documents and eligible master programmes are published.
  • 10 February – 26 February 2025: Application portal for the SI Scholarship is open.
  • 27 March 2025 – University admissions announcement day.
  • 24 April 2025: SI Scholarship announcement day.

What's included

The Scholarship for Global Professionals is a highly competitive, fully-funded opportunity that offers the following benefits:

  • Full tuition coverage: The scholarship covers the full cost of tuition, which is paid directly by the Swedish Institute (SI) to your Swedish university each semester.
  • Monthly stipend: A monthly allowance of SEK 12,000 to help cover living expenses during your studies.
  • Travel grant: A one-time travel grant of SEK 15,000 (SEK 10,000 for scholars from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine). This grant is available to students not already residing in Sweden.
  • Membership in the SI Network for Future Global Professionals (NFGP): A platform designed to support your professional growth and help you establish valuable connections while studying in Sweden.
  • SI Alumni Network: Upon completion of your scholarship period, you will join the SI Alumni Network, where you can continue to benefit from networking and professional development opportunities.

The scholarship does not:

  • Include insurance:  it is recommend consulting with your university to understand the insurance coverage available for international students.
  • Provide funding for family members: Additional grants for family members are not included in this scholarship.
  • Cover application fees: The scholarship does not cover the application fee for University Admissions.
  • Permit changes to the study program: Support is only provided for the specific master’s program that has been awarded.
  • Allow extensions or modifications: The scholarship period cannot be extended or altered once it has been granted.
